Gold Supporters General Student Grants

WSDM'09 Gold Supporters are offering 10 grants for students that want to attend the conference next February in Barcelona.
The 10 grant winners will receive:
  • free registration for the conference, the satellite workshops and WAW2009
  • 250 USD cash

All Ph.D. students interested in Web Search and Data Mining can apply.

To apply send, no later than December 15th, an e-mail to contact@wsdm2009.org containing:

  • your CV, containing your research topic, advisor, list of publications, etc.
  • 1-page statement about why you wish to attend WSDM'09/WAW2009

The winners will be notified by e-mail and their names published on the conference web page. We are looking forward to receiving your applications.

2009 Google WSDM Conference Grant (for female scientists)

As part of Google's ongoing commitment to encouraging women to excel in computing and technology, we are pleased to announce the 2009 Google WSDM Conference Grant to encourage more female computer scientists to attend and participate in the WSDM 2009 Conference, 9-12 February, Barcelona, Spain. We encourage all female computer scientists interested in Web Search and Data Mining to apply.

Two people will be chosen from the applicant pool to receive:

  • free registration for the conference and the satellite workshops (including WAW 12-13 Feb 09, Barcelona if desired). Accommodation not included.
  • 400 euros for travel costs (given to the recipients at the event)

To be eligible for a conference grant candidates must:

  • Be working or a student in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or technical field related to Web Search and Data Mining
  • Maintaining a strong academic background with demonstrated leadership ability
  • Attend at least 2 full days of the main WSDM2009 conference

How To Apply

To apply send, no later than December 22nd, an e-mail to europe-events@google.com with the subject heading '2009 Google WSDM Conference grant' containing:

  • your full name and email address
  • current address, contact phone number and copy of photo ID
  • your CV
  • 1-page statement (no more than 600 words) about why you wish to attend WSDM'09 and why attending WSDM 2009 is important to your research and/or future career

Winners and claim process
The winners will be notified by e-mail by Friday 9 January 09 latest and their names published on the conference webpage
No pre-payment of the 400 Euro travel grant is provided. If you are a successful applicant, you will receive payment in person at WSDM2009 by presenting the letter from Google announcing your award to the travel award program coordinator.
